Those who know me personally know that I read a lot (really a lot) of books on a wide variety of subjects.
One of the reasons I write and publish regularly is to share information with my readers and encourage them to seek out additional information and form their own opinions thus increasing their knowledge while, at the same time, enjoying some entertaining reading.
I’ve benefitted often over the years from people sharing their reading selections with me and I thought it time I returned the favor. Since most of my writing involves guns or Second Amendment issues, I thought I’d start there. Triggernometry – A Gallery of Gunfighters by Eugene Cunningham is a fascinating book for those interested in the history of the American West and the real life stories of the gunfighters who lived at that time.
Triggernometry was first published in 1934. Cunningham was born in 1896 and lived until 1957. He actually spoke with some of the gunfighters described in the book as well as having known many men who rode with those gunfighters resulting in a rare, and in many cases, first-hand account of the men and the time in which they lived.
The book covers the usual figures such as Wild Bill Hickok and Billy the Kid but also spends a fair amount of time on colorful men of whom you may not have heard like Dallas Stoudenmire and Long-haired Jim Courtright. Triggernometry provides interesting facts and bits of information on both the well-known and less well known men of the period.
If you are a fan of guns, history and the old west give Triggernometry a try, it won’t disappoint.
