Semi-Fascists and the Politics of Redefinition
How the left redefines language and uses projection as weapons in their culture war
For years I’d always considered myself a patriotic, respectable, productive member of society. I’ve been married for forty years (and running), helped raise two fine children, and had a successful professional career (which continues). I’ve volunteered in my community for most of my adult life, something that also continues (the life as well as the volunteering). Imagine my surprise to discover that I’m, in fact, a fascist. Who knew?
Technically I’m a semi-fascist and not a full fascist, at least that’s what I am according to my President. Joe Biden has decided that I along with about 80 million of my fellow Americans are what his confused mind defines as semi-fascists. He stated as much in what was probably the most horrific, divisive, dangerous, and just plain tone-deaf speech ever given by a US President.
Apparently, we semi-fascists have been defined as such because we love our country and would like to see it recover from its current, distressed state. Because we believe in and support our Constitution and would prefer our government run the country accordingly. But mostly we are semi-fascists because we disagree with Joe Biden’s policies and support the man who will very likely be his (or at least his party’s) political opponent in 2024.
Since I’ve never been called a fascist, I’ll work out semi-fascist in a bit, I thought it might be helpful to understand exactly what that is. The following is the definition of fascism according to the American Heritage dictionary:
fascism
noun
1. A system of government marked by centralization of authority under a dictator, a capitalist economy subject to stringent governmental controls, violent suppression of the opposition, and typically a policy of belligerent nationalism and racism.
2. A political philosophy or movement based on or advocating such a system of government.
3. Oppressive, dictatorial control.
And a fascist is defined as:
fascist
noun
1. An advocate or adherent of fascism.
2. A reactionary or dictatorial person.
3. an adherent of fascism or similar right-wing authoritarian views.
So, lets break the definition down and see if we can provide some examples:
· A system of government marked by centralization of authority under a dictator
o Advocating federalization of the electoral system
o Advocating abolition of the electoral college system
o Advocating packing the US Supreme Court with easily controlled activist judges
o Advocating federal control of abortion
· A capitalist economy subject to stringent governmental controls
o Ordering private businesses to require vaccines of all employees
o Intentionally attacking an industry (oil & gas) through federal regulations
o EPA regulating beyond their authority even after a US Supreme Court decision
o ATF creating firearms rules well beyond their charter as defined by congress
· Violent suppression of the opposition
o Extreme persecution of January 6th protesters for what should’ve been handled as the low-level trespassing and vandalism that it was
o Arresting, prosecuting, and, in the case of Paul Manafort, jailing people whose only crime was working for a political opponent
o Using 30 FBI agents to raid the home of a former President and likely future political opponent in the hopes of finding evidence of something for which that individual could be prosecuted
o Encouraging supporters to publicly confront and intimidate political opponents (along with their families) and anyone else with whom they disagree
· A policy of belligerent nationalism and racism
o While certainly not nationalistic, the Biden administration is full of examples of racism. When you specifically discriminate against a group of people based on skin color it’s racism regardless of the color of the skin. Racism is racism.
Oppressive dictatorial control. Pretty much describes the Biden administration and the current Democratic party.
Projection, in the political sense, is projecting one’s behavior onto others or said another way, displacing one’s feelings onto others. If a politician is lying, he or she might accuse their opponent of lying thus casting doubt on the opponent’s behavior and deflecting attention away from their own. A fascist might accuse a political opponent of being a fascist.
Projection is a standard tool of the left and is commonly used to attack conservatives and anyone else with whom the left disagrees. Casting parents as domestic terrorists for questioning school board members over concern about what their children are being taught is a great example. The nation’s biggest domestic terrorist lives in the White House.
The semi-fascists of America use different words to describe the current Democratic Party. Some call them communists, some socialists and some even call them Democrat Communists. Based on the actual definition of those words I don’t think any of them are appropriate descriptions of the current Democratic Party. Unfortunately, the most accurate description is fascist.
I have never seen an American President deliver a more hateful, dangerous, or irresponsible speech than what Joe Biden delivered at Independence Hall on Thursday night. I’ve never seen an American President deliver a speech seemingly designed to incite violence. No matter what you think of Donald Trump, he never did anything even remotely similar. Biden’s speech and staging would have made Mussolini and Hitler proud.
Our country is entering a dangerous period, we are at a crossroads. I’m not a fascist so I guess I don’t need to try to figure out how a mentally challenged, bitter old man defines the term. I do know the definition of recession and I understand we are in one regardless of how the administration chooses to redefine that term.
Being at a crossroads Americans have two opportunities to make a choice, the first being in November and the second in 2024. Choose right in November and we can put the brakes on our downward spiral. Choose right in 2024 and we can reverse the damage and set the country back on a path towards prosperity. The consequences of a wrong choice are likely to be terrible for everyone.
The future is in the hands of Americans and time will tell what that future will be. Joe Biden is correct when he says we are in a battle for America’s soul, he’s just wrong about which side represents good and which evil.
