Weekly Roundup # 123
A collection of interesting articles you may not have seen by authors you may not have read
The Weekly Roundup is a feature offered to my readers in addition to my regular articles. The Roundup is a collection of mostly recent articles you probably haven’t seen by writers you may not have read. The main intent is to expose readers to a reasonable amount of hopefully new information in the hope this will encourage some to explore further and develop a deeper understanding of the issues that shape our society and ultimately determine our way of life. The secondary intent is to offer some interesting reading for you while providing exposure for some great writers. Enjoy!
So, another very successful annual pig hunt is over, and the Weekly Roundup is back on schedule.
We start off with some interesting concealed carry news from Dr. John Lott and the Crime Prevention Resource Center. Lott examines the latest rate of carry data as it relates to likely voters in New Survey on the Rate that People Carry Concealed Handguns.
Next, we have three articles from AWR Hawkins delivering some good news in the effort to defend the Second Amendment and how some Americans are stepping up to join the fight.
The first describes Virginia prosecutors refusing to enforce an unconstitutional law in Virginia: At Least 10 Commonwealth Attorneys Refuse to Enforce “Assault Weapons” Ban.
The second involves a state Attorney General standing up to a mandatory waiting period in Florida Attorney General Uthmeier: 3-Day Gun Purchase Waiting Period “Unconstitutional”.
The third shows the Florida Attorney General again standing up for law-abiding citizens against an out-of-control anti-gun HOA in Florida HOA Backs off Gun Ban After State AG Threatens Legal Action.
I’ve written often about the rampant use of misinformation by the anti-gun Left in their never ending effort to disarm law-abiding citizens and the obligation of all gun-owning Americans to challenge that information whenever possible. Gun writer Lee Williams again does his part in Gannett’s USA Today blasts guns, Second Amendment rights, sanity.
The Weekly Roundup now includes a humorous meme to lighten the day. The weekly meme is chosen from dozens posted in the Week in Pictures originally created by Steven Hayward and for a time carried on by his colleague John Hinderaker of the Powerline blog. Hayward and Hinderaker have now decided to alternate their WIP duties each week. Welcome back Steven! Powerline features excellent reporting and analysis of American politics and culture. I’ve been reading the work of Hayward and his colleagues for over fifteen years.
Enjoy this week’s meme.
