Weekly Roundup # 125
A collection of interesting articles you may not have seen by authors you may not have read
The Weekly Roundup is a feature offered to my readers in addition to my regular articles. The Roundup is a collection of mostly recent articles you probably haven’t seen by writers you may not have read. The main intent is to expose readers to a reasonable amount of hopefully new information in the hope this will encourage some to explore further and develop a deeper understanding of the issues that shape our society and ultimately determine our way of life. The secondary intent is to offer some interesting reading for you while providing exposure for some great writers. Enjoy!
The legislature in Sacramento doesn’t typically produce and Governor Newsom doesn’t typically sign bills that are beneficial to Californians however, in the case of AB1948 we may see the legislature and the governor do the right thing for the wrong reason. AB1948 would extend the period a current CCW is valid from two to three years and possibly longer while decreasing the administrative workload of Sheriffs around the state. The bill has cleared the legislature and is on its way to the governor’s desk, lets hope Governor Newsom does the right thing.
Firearms registries have no legitimate purpose other than as a precursor to eventual confiscation efforts. AWR Hawkins reports on the fight in Colorado in Gun Shops File Lawsuit Against Colorado’s “Warrantless Searches” and Gun Registry Requirements.
The great state of Oregon is following the same path to destruction as the failed state of California with many of it’s citizens suffering from a similar form of mass psychosis characterized by low information voters lacking the ability to think critically. AWR Hawkins covers the latest example which is proving too much even for some Democrats in Democrat Rep. Val Hoyle Blasts Proposed Hunting Ban as “Insane”.
West Virginia’s constitutional carry rights have been extended to 18-20 year olds. AWR Hawkins has the details in 18-20 Year Old West Virginians Concealed Carrying Without Permits.
Similar to California, Massachusetts is afflicted with an excessive number of gun laws which have no effect on criminals and that endanger the public. Cam Edwards describes a recent example of how these laws endanger law-abiding citizens in Massachusetts Gun Laws Interfered with Armed Citizen’s Response to Mass Shooting.
The Weekly Roundup now includes a humorous meme to lighten the day. The weekly meme is chosen from dozens posted in the Week in Pictures originally created by Steven Hayward and for a time carried on by his colleague John Hinderaker of the Powerline blog. Hayward and Hinderaker have now decided to alternate their WIP duties each week. Welcome back Steven! Powerline features excellent reporting and analysis of American politics and culture. I’ve been reading the work of Hayward and his colleagues for over fifteen years.
Enjoy this week’s meme.
