Weekly Roundup # 23
A collection of interesting articles you may not have seen by authors you may not have read
The Weekly Roundup is a feature offered to my readers in addition to my regular articles. The Roundup is a collection of mostly recent articles you probably haven’t seen by writers you may not have read. The intent is to provide some interesting reading for you while providing some exposure for some great writers. Enjoy!
He’s back!!! Apparently, there is some integrity and credibility in the New Mexico legal system as a judge has set a date for Alec Baldwin’s manslaughter trial in the killing of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. Baldwin has steadfastly claimed that he bears absolutely no responsibility in the accidental shooting of Hutchins so it’s good to see at least the attempt being made to hold him accountable. Read about the decision here.
In a related story Rust armorer Hannah Gutierrez was convicted on Wednesday of involuntary manslaughter for her part in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. Gutierrez will remain in custody until her sentencing which will take place in a few weeks. It will be interesting to see if the rich, famous actor who actually pulled the trigger will be treated the same as the young armorer who had overall responsibility for the firearms on the set.
The easiest, cheapest, and most effective way of reducing death and injuries during a school shooting incident is to allow teachers and staff to be armed so they can defend themselves and the children until law enforcement arrives. Gun control activists are urging Utah Governor Spencer Cox (R) to reject a bill currently headed to his desk that would fund training for teachers and staff who want the ability to defend themselves and the children in the event of an attack.
Most gun owners are aware that the media consistently uses inaccurate, incorrect, or misleading data when reporting on violent acts committed by criminals using firearms. Lee Williams examines this subject in “More anti-gun groups fabricating mass shooting data”.
Rational Americans who actually understand and support the Constitution really do outnumber the others although it doesn’t always seem so. South Carolina is about to become the 29th constitutional carry state.
Conservative (or more accurately traditional and patriotic) Americans understand that we currently have a two tiered justice system that treats conservative Americans differently than left leaning Americans. This is obvious at the federal level with the treatment of citizens involved in the January 6th protests versus the treatment of BLM and Antifa rioters and at the state level in the ongoing lawfare being waged against President Trump. In California, Judge Cormac J. Carney of the US District Court for the Central District of California ruled “the government cannot selectively prosecute right-wing rioters while ignoring Antifa”. Read about his decision here.
