Weekly Roundup # 66
A collection of interesting articles you may not have seen by authors you may not have read
The Weekly Roundup is a feature offered to my readers in addition to my regular articles. The Roundup is a collection of mostly recent articles you probably haven’t seen by writers you may not have read. The intent is to provide some interesting reading for you while providing some exposure for some great writers. Enjoy!
One of the most dangerous and corrupt politicians in Washington is at it again. Adam Schiff is dredging up another tired old ban and AWR Hawkins has the story in The Hill: Adam Schiff’s “Assault Weapons” Ban has Virtually No Chance of Becoming Law.
Richard Mann’s Emptycases SubStack site is filled with great articles from the veteran gun writer like this one: Every Day Carry (EDC).
Gun writer Lee Williams has been highlighting the plight of an innocent man who was railroaded into a 20 year prison sentence by a rogue, out of control ATF. We’ve linked to several of Williams’ articles on the subject in past Roundups. The Trump administration is finally reining in this destructive agency and Congress may finally be taking notice. Lee Williams has the story in U.S. Senator Rick Scott asking strong questions about Patrick “Tate” Adamiak’s case.
Sometimes we (us old guys) worry about younger people today and what kind of future they will create for themselves. With a dose of optimism, Massad Ayoob shares some good news in Hope for America’s Youth.
Colonel Jeff Cooper is a true legend in the firearms community, from being the “father of the modern pistol technique” to being one of the founders of competitive handgun shooting. Cooper founded the Gunsite Academy in Paulden Arizona, the first school to train civilians in defensive firearms, a school that is still considered the gold standard in firearms training today. Check out this throwback article Cooper wrote for Guns & Ammo in 1975, his words are still relevant today. Guns & Ammo Throwback: Jeff Cooper vs. Terrorism.
The Weekly Roundup now includes a humorous meme to lighten the day. The weekly meme is chosen from dozens posted in the Week in Pictures originally created by Steven Hayward but now carried on by his colleague John Hinderaker of the Powerline blog. Powerline features excellent reporting and analysis of American politics and culture. I’ve been reading the work of Hayward and his colleagues for over fifteen years.
Enjoy this week’s meme.
