Weekly Roundup # 71
A collection of interesting articles you may not have seen by authors you may not have read
The Weekly Roundup is a feature offered to my readers in addition to my regular articles. The Roundup is a collection of mostly recent articles you probably haven’t seen by writers you may not have read. The intent is to provide some interesting reading for you while providing some exposure for some great writers. Enjoy!
We’ve had a big week in Second Amendment related news beginning with how the Left endangers those in law enforcement. Amy Furr has the story in Report: Assaults on NYPD Cops Rose 63% as Leftist DA Alvin Bragg Fails Law Enforcement.
I’ve written on this subject in the past here, but Mike McDaniel revisits the matter and adds his opinion in “Stand Your Ground in jeopardy in California?”.
While this is another example of why we shouldn’t depend on the courts to defend our 2A rights, there may be a silver lining here. AWR Hawkins has the details in “Justice Clarence Thomas: AR-15s are Clearly Arms Under the Second Amendment’s Plain Text”.
The anti-gun folks commonly use misinformation and falsehoods to further their cause but here we have an unusually egregious example even for that group. Lee Williams has the story in Anti-gun activist lies about surviving a school shooting that never occurred.
AWR Hawkins brings more disappointing news from SCOTUS in SCOTUS: Roberts, Kavanaugh, and Barrett side with Liberal Justices on Maryland “Assault Weapons” Ban.
Gun owners in Texas exercise their power and demonstrate to a senior Republican politician the consequences of supporting gun-control laws. John Nolte has the details in Nolte: Sen. John Cornyn’s Reelection Poll Numbers Worsen.
Ildefonso Ortiz and Brandon Darby bring us a story of one way bad guys actually get guns in DACA Recipient Sent to U.S. Prison for Buying Guns for Mexican Cartels.
Just to be fair and balanced, we also have some good news from SCOTUS. AWR Hawkins has the scoop in Supreme Court Strikes Down Mexico Lawsuit Against U.S. Gun Makers.
And to end on an even more positive note we have good news on the constitutional carry front. AWR Hawkins provides the details in North Carolina on Track to Become 30th Constitutional Carry State.
The Weekly Roundup now includes a humorous meme to lighten the day. The weekly meme is chosen from dozens posted in the Week in Pictures originally created by Steven Hayward but now carried on by his colleague John Hinderaker of the Powerline blog. Powerline features excellent reporting and analysis of American politics and culture. I’ve been reading the work of Hayward and his colleagues for over fifteen years.
Enjoy this week’s meme.
