Weekly Roundup # 76
A collection of interesting articles you may not have seen by authors you may not have read
The Weekly Roundup is a feature offered to my readers in addition to my regular articles. The Roundup is a collection of mostly recent articles you probably haven’t seen by writers you may not have read. The intent is to provide some interesting reading for you while providing some exposure for some great writers. Enjoy!
Many CCW instructors advise students that if they’re involved in a self-defense shooting, they should minimize what they say to responding law enforcement officers until their attorney arrives. Massad Ayoob concurs but has some additional advice. See what Ayoob has to say in When a Lawyer Says, “I don’t Care If You Get Arrested”.
The recently passed Big Beautiful Bill contained some good news for gun owners. While progress was limited due to the bill being presented as a reconciliation bill, the Trump administration is moving in the right direction. Mike McDaniel has the details in The Big Beautiful Bill restores some gun liberties.
Multiple gun rights groups have filed a lawsuit to eliminate the National Firearms Act (NFA). The hope was that the NFA would be repealed by Congress but as that hasn’t happened yet, gun rights groups are acting. AWR Hawkins has the story in Gun Groups File “One Big Beautiful Lawsuit” to End NFA Regulations.
The AR-15 has become “America’s Gun”, one of the most widely owned guns in the country and there are a multitude of reasons why it has become so. D. Parker has some advice in Why you should already own an AR-15.
Those of us involved in church security understand that the current threat level is significant and continues to increase. The 9th Circuit consistently endangers the public through its incorrect rulings demonstrating once again why it is the most overturned appeals court in the country. Keith Graves explains how the latest bad decision could harm those who volunteer to protect their church and endangers churchgoers in 9th Circuit Decision on Use of Force Has Implications for Church Security.
The Weekly Roundup now includes a humorous meme to lighten the day. The weekly meme is chosen from dozens posted in the Week in Pictures originally created by Steven Hayward but now carried on by his colleague John Hinderaker of the Powerline blog. Powerline features excellent reporting and analysis of American politics and culture. I’ve been reading the work of Hayward and his colleagues for over fifteen years.
Enjoy this week’s meme.
