Weekly Roundup # 96
A collection of interesting articles you may not have seen by authors you may not have read
The Weekly Roundup is a feature offered to my readers in addition to my regular articles. The Roundup is a collection of mostly recent articles you probably haven’t seen by writers you may not have read. The main intent is to expose readers to a reasonable amount of hopefully new information in the hope this will encourage some to explore further and develop a deeper understanding of the issues that shape our society and ultimately determine our way of life. The secondary intent is to offer some interesting reading for you while providing exposure for some great writers. Enjoy!
Californians with CCWs may soon get some relief from the state’s dangerous and restrictive sensitive area law. The U.S. Supreme Court will hear a case challenging Hawaii’s sensitive area law and Republican attorneys general from around the country are weighing in. AWR Hawkins has the story in Exclusive: Montana AG Knudsen Leads 26 Other States in Urging SCOTUS to Strike Down Hawaii Carry Ban.
In related good news, the Trump DOJ has also weighed in on the case on the side of law-abiding concealed carriers. Jake Fogleman has the details in DOJ Files Brief Supporting SCOTUS Challenge to Hawaii Gun-Carry Law.
For those with an interest in military weapon development we have a story on what the Army is considering as a replacement for the M4 rifle. Mike McDaniel shares his opinion on the path the Army is taking in The M7A1: a rifle by committee.
We’ve all seen and probably trained with hostage targets. The following point/counterpoint article by Ralph Mroz and Claude Werner argue the pros and cons of training with hostage targets. Check out their opinions in Hostage Targets: Dangerous Practice or Useful Skill?
The Weekly Roundup now includes a humorous meme to lighten the day. The weekly meme is chosen from dozens posted in the Week in Pictures originally created by Steven Hayward but now carried on by his colleague John Hinderaker of the Powerline blog. Powerline features excellent reporting and analysis of American politics and culture. I’ve been reading the work of Hayward and his colleagues for over fifteen years.
Enjoy this week’s meme.
