Weekly Roundup # 97
A collection of interesting articles you may not have seen by authors you may not have read
The Weekly Roundup is a feature offered to my readers in addition to my regular articles. The Roundup is a collection of mostly recent articles you probably haven’t seen by writers you may not have read. The main intent is to expose readers to a reasonable amount of hopefully new information in the hope this will encourage some to explore further and develop a deeper understanding of the issues that shape our society and ultimately determine our way of life. The secondary intent is to offer some interesting reading for you while providing exposure for some great writers. Enjoy!
It looks like we are about to get a new director at ATF and some in the Second Amendment community are optimistic about the new nominee. Personally, I think the best ATF director would be the one who presides over the shutting down of the agency but that’s just my opinion. Massad Ayoob has the details in An ATF Leader You Might Just be Happy With. While Ayoob’s article is informative, I think the many comments from readers seen at the bottom of the article are more so.
In a related ATF story, we have what is the more typical former senior ATF executive and another reason it would serve the American people well to abolish the agency. Lee Williams has the details in Former ATF official now working for Everytown wants to target gun dealers.
Erika Kirk recently stated a fact that honest Americans who pay attention have been aware of for a very long time still, the words of some individuals carry more weight than those of others so it’s good that she made the statement. Alana Mastrangelo has the story in Erika Kirk: America is Facing a “Soul Problem,” not a Gun Violence Epidemic.
The Trump administration makes another long overdue change to how the federal government views Second Amendment rights. AWR Hawkins has the news in Trump DOJ Adding “Second Amendment Rights Section” to Civil Rights Division.
While this study is several years old, it is full of valuable information that is very relevant to concealed carriers today. If you’re serious about carrying and your training, take a few minutes to read 25 Gunfighting Stats Learned from Convicted Cop Killers.
It appears the good guys are still winning. AWR Hawkins has the good news in Black Friday 2025: Over 165,000 Background Checks for Gun Sales.
The Weekly Roundup now includes a humorous meme to lighten the day. The weekly meme is chosen from dozens posted in the Week in Pictures originally created by Steven Hayward but now carried on by his colleague John Hinderaker of the Powerline blog. Powerline features excellent reporting and analysis of American politics and culture. I’ve been reading the work of Hayward and his colleagues for over fifteen years.
Enjoy this week’s meme.
